Sydney's Beta Bar wins top gong at 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards

CBD cocktail venue, Beta Bar, has been named Best Bar, Australia & Pacific at the 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

Having taken place this year at a ceremony in London on Thursday October 5, the prestigious awards program recognises excellence in the design of establishments across the globe.

Beta Bar opened last year on the first floor of the Hellenic Club building on Castlereagh Street, above Alpha restaurant.

Designed by DS17’s Paul Papadopoulos, Beta Bar is includes both a cocktail bar and event space and combines old world charm with contemporary flair with exposed bricks and high arches.

The furniture was designed by Italian-Danish maker GamFratesi, while London-based product and interior designer, Lee Broom, crafted the polished brass pendant light fittings and the unique glassware from repurposed crystal bowls bonded to Carrara marble bases.

Arthur Balayannis, CEO of the Hellenic Club says the teams at Beta Bar and Alpha are thrilled to have taken out their category.

He says, "DS17’s design for Beta is absolutely stunning and we always knew we were creating something pretty special.

"Now the rest of the design world knows that too."

Beta Bar serves Greek-inspired cocktails matched with meze dishes by executive chef Peter Conistis, who also oversees the menu at Alpha.
