Shannon Bennett’s burger restaurant in Richmond has closed
The Vue Group’s Benny Burger has closed its Richmond outlet.
Though the Vue de Monde creative director Shannon Bennett sold his majority shares in the group in 2016, he was the founder of the ethically-focussed burger restaurant, which opened in June 2017.
Benny Burger was three years in the making, following a pop-up at Sydney Airport.
At the time of opening Bennett promised clean burgers, championing organic beef and cheese, line-caught barramundi, a solid vegetarian offering and chemical-free sauces and fries.
In a statement provided to Broadsheet, Vue Group CEO Andrew Skinner says the venue closed due to difficulties with the site that did not align with its long-term vision for the brand.
A Benny Burger still operates at 430 Little Collins Street, Melbourne.
