Scott Pickett’s new restaurant is opening at Chadstone Shopping Centre
Scott Pickett, the chef-restauranteur behind fine-diner Estelle, woodfire-fuelled two-hat Matilda, and casual pasta joint Lupo, is opening a new restaurant in Melbourne’s largest shopping centre.
Located inside the Sofitel’s Hotel Chadstone, Pastore will be an all-day casual diner with a menu fusing Italian-inspired dishes and handmade pasta with the smoke and flames Pickett has learnt to wield at Matilda in South Yarra.
From small plates to full tasting experiences, the menu by Pickett and Pastore head chef Mirco Speri (former head chef at Thirty Eight Chairs) includes house-cured duck prosciutto served with Davidson plum and Geraldton wax; wood-roasted king prawns with fermented tomato, ‘nduja and fennel pollen; spaghetti ubriachi, calamari and bottarga; and a 35-day dry-aged 800-gram Bistecca alla Fiorentina.
Pastore will also have a shared Sunday lunch menu, and offer room service to the hotel guests.
Each seating 50 patrons, the dining room and adjacent bar feature a warm palette of dusty pink, brass details, natural stone, reeded glass and timber. The cocktail menu will see staple Italian spirits mixed with Australian botanicals and aperitifs such as the house Negroni of Applewood Okar Amaro, Maidenii Sweet Vermouth and Pickett’s own Pickett & Co Gin.
“My love of Italian food and cooking over fire is well known, and Pastore will showcase our passion for this cuisine within a beautiful setting. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to operate alongside Hotel Chadstone Melbourne, MGallery by Sofitel and excited to be bringing our food and style to Chadstone,” says Pickett.
Pastore will open on November 1, 2019.
