Restaurateur Chris Lucas to open French bistro Batard
Serial restaurateur and founder of The Lucas Group, Chris Lucas, has unveiled his newest restaurant project - Batard, a French bistro and wine bar on Melbourne's Bourke Street.
Batard promises to be the fulfillment of a long held dream for Lucas.
"I’ve spent a great deal of my past visiting all corners of France," says Lucas, "and like many, dreamed of having my own little bistro.
"I’m somewhat of a nostalgic and want to bring some of that romance to Melbourne with my own touch at Batard.
"I mean, who doesn’t love steak frites with a glass of Burgundy?
Opening late 2018, Batard will set up shop in a refurbished Victorian terrace at the Spring Street end of the CBD.
The venue will feature a welcoming dining room, rooftop bar as well as basement cellar.
The Batard menu will focus on steak and charcuterie, and an extensive range of French wine.
Lucas will announce the Batard team in the coming months.
The Lucas Group was launched in 2009 and its restaurant portfolio includes Chin Chin and GoGo (Sydney and Melbourne) and Melbourne’s Kisumé, Baby, Kong and Hawker Hall.
