McDonald's and Uber team up for home delivery
McDonald's has announced a new partnership with online delivery platform, UberEats. Our sister publication, AdNews reports that the trial has kicked off in the Northern Hemisphere across parts of the US and the UK with a home delivery trial to follow in Australia later in the year.
McDonald's has been testing delivery with UberEats in America in approximately 200 restaurants in Florida since December 2016.
Closer to home, Macca's has been trialling home delivery since 2013 with McDelivery and Menulog in various Australian cities.
The McDonald's-Uber partnership has been confirmed in the US, however a UberEats spokesperson says it has no plans to launch in Australia. Sources, however, say the deal is underway.
UberEverything head Jason Droege says, "We are thrilled to partner with McDonalds to bring the ease and reliability of Uber's technology to deliver their classic flavors.
"Whether you are at home or at the park, we are building UberEATS to serve up the right food, for right now - from salads to Big Macs - at the tap of a button."
Rumours are further circulating that the delivery will coincide with the launch of the new McDonalds app, which will allow customers to order food and pay via the app.
The app has been tested in the UK and will be made available in Australia shortly.
