Award-winning Gontran Cherrier to open second Melbourne boulangerie
Internationally renowned French baker, Gontran Cherrier, is returning to Melbourne this month to open his second, Australian boulangerie, just over one year after opening his eponymous venue in Collingwood.
Instore on Saturday September 16 at his Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn location, Cherrier will meet and greet fans and visitors.
Known for putting a contemporary spin on French classics, Cherrier is a fourth-generation boulanger. And he is thrilled to have the opportunity to reach a wider, Australian audience.
He says, "Glenferrie road has a real community feel to it, and we want to offer locals the best quality products.
"It’s a great area to collaborate with other local businesses which we look forward to exploring further down the line."
His new boulangerie focuses largely on grab-and-go offerings, however will also offer guests a small sit area for those wanting to dine-in.
Amongst the sweets and treats on the menu, Gontran Cherrier Hawthorn will feature baguettes, miso rye loaves, Kouign-amanns, croissants and artisan sandwiches.
“Freshly baked bread, made from French flour is one of life’s greatest pleasures," he says.
"French flour is much more digestible than most alternatives, that’s why it doesn’t leave you feeling bloated or uncomfortable."
Gontran Cherrier will be in Melbourne from Monday September 11 to Sunday September 17 for the launch of his Hawthorn boulangerie. For further information, please visit gontrancherrier.com.au.
