Andrew McConnell forays into alcohol with new gin collab

Andrew McConnell’s restaurant group beverage director, Leanne Altmann, has teamed up with Applewood Distillery’s Brendan Carter to create Supernormal’s own signature gin.

The restaurant on Melbourne’s Flinders Lane takes inspiration from Chinese, Cantonese and Japanese cuisines and pulls the dishes in a new direction.

The gin is inspired by the flavours of Supernormal and combines Japanese and native Australian botanicals, including green tea, nori, yuzu, riberry, wattleseed and wormwood.

The gin was designed for the menu and will feature in a number of cocktails at the bar, but is a new foray into consumer products for the McConnell group. The spirit will be available to the public for purchase at Supernormal and McConnell’s butcher Meatsmith in Fitzroy for $68 a bottle.
