Al fresco bar and eatery, The Terrace by e’cco, has opened in Newstead with former Madame Rouge Bar & Bistro head chef, Gert Pretorius, leading the kitchen.

The brainchild of restaurateurs Philip Johnson and Mary Randles, The Terrace by e’cco is located next door to sister venue E'cco Bistro, in the Haven complex.

“The Terrace is the cool, little sister of e’cco and our guests will definitely see that reflected in the ambience and menus," says Randles.

"We have created this special spot to be one where people can grab a quick bite and drink and be 100 per cent satisfied by it in every way.”

Offering diners South-east Asian-inspired fare in a relaxed, dining space, the menu is the result of a collaboration between Pretorius and Johnson and consists of share plates and small bites.

Highlights include pork san choy bow, steamed BBQ pork buns, betel leaf with prawn, Massaman coconut beef curry and chargrilled pineapple and kaffir lime with coconut sorbet.

The Terrace by e’cco also offers a set menu, titled 'Feed Me', it features a chef’s selection of dishes for a minimum of two people.

The drinks list includes cocktails designed to match the menu's South-east Asian flavours, such as signature drinks 'Happy Endings' with Four Pillars gin, pampelle, pineapple, lemon and sugar, and 'Sleeping Tiger' with vodka, elderflower, mandarin, bitters and egg white.
